# WebAssembly Unavailable? Fix It by Platform and Environment

## What You're Seeing

After uploading a model, Any3D displays: "Your browser does not support WebAssembly." Format conversion, Draco decompression, KTX2 texture compression, and other operations are blocked.

WebAssembly (WASM) is the foundation for running high-performance code in the browser. Any3D's Draco, MeshOpt, IFC/STEP parsing, and KTX2 encoding modules all depend on it. Without WASM, the core workflow is completely halted.

## Common Causes

| Cause | Typical Scenario |
| ------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Outdated browser | Long-unupdated Chrome on corporate intranet, IE compatibility mode |
| Security policy disables WASM | Corporate GPO/MDM, parental controls, Chinese browsers in "compatibility kernel" |
| Extension or script blocker | Ad blockers or privacy plugins incorrectly blocking `.wasm` resources |
| Network middlebox interference | Corporate VPN, transparent proxy, intranet gateway rewriting or intercepting WASM files |
| Non-standard WebView | In-app browsers (e.g., WeChat, DingTalk), old embedded WebViews in apps |
| Device management configuration | School/corporate managed devices, Screen Time-like restrictions |

## Troubleshoot by Platform

### Windows (Desktop)

1. Use the **latest stable Chrome or Edge** (version 90+ recommended). Avoid IE mode and "Compatibility View."
2. Open `chrome://settings/system` and ensure **hardware acceleration** is enabled. (This is tied to the GPU stack and can affect WASM loading in some environments.)
3. **Group Policy (Enterprise)**: If IT has configured "Disable JavaScript" or restricted web features, WASM will also be disabled. Contact your admin to confirm if `wasm-unsafe-eval` or equivalent policies are allowed.
4. **Windows Family Safety / Parental Controls**: If the account is a "child account" with browser restrictions, switch to an admin account or adjust "Web browsing restrictions" and retry.

### macOS (Desktop)

1. Use **Safari 15+** or the latest **Chrome/Firefox**.
2. **Screen Time**: Go to Content & Privacy Restrictions → Web Content. If set to "Limit Adult Websites" or "Allowed Websites Only," it may indirectly restrict script execution.
3. **MDM-managed Mac** (company-issued device): Check configuration profiles for browser extension or web capability restrictions.

### Linux (Desktop)

1. Install Chrome or Firefox from the official distribution repository or the browser's official site. Avoid outdated Snap/Flatpak versions.
2. If a corporate Linux workstation uses a forced HTTP proxy, confirm the proxy is not intercepting `.wasm` files or altering the `Content-Type: application/wasm` header.

### iOS / iPadOS (Mobile)

1. Open Any3D in **Safari** or **Chrome (iOS uses WebKit)**. Avoid using it inside an app's WebView.
2. **Screen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions**: Turn off "Limit Web Content" or add Any3D to the allowed list.
3. **Corporate MDM** devices may disable some JavaScript capabilities. Contact IT.

### Android (Mobile)

1. Use the **latest Chrome**. For Chinese browsers, switch to "Fast/Modern kernel" mode — do not use compatibility mode.
2. **Digital Wellbeing / Parental Controls** (e.g., Family Link): Check if the browser or unknown sites are restricted.
3. If opened in WeChat or DingTalk, tap the upper-right corner and select "Open in Browser."

## Network, VPN, and Corporate Intranet

| Scenario | Recommendation |
| ------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Corporate VPN | Test by disconnecting the VPN. Some VPNs MITM or cache static resources, causing WASM validation to fail. |
| Intranet proxy / transparent gateway | Have IT confirm that `*.wasm` is not blocked. Add Any3D's domain to the allowlist if necessary. |
| Overseas nodes / routing rules | Ensure Any3D's static resources are accessed via a direct or stable route, avoiding CDN nodes returning wrong MIME types. |
| Zero Trust Agent (ZTA) | Some agents inject CSP headers — require `wasm-unsafe-eval` to be allowed. |

For personal users: Switch to a mobile hotspot or home network to quickly determine if the issue is network-related.

## Parental Controls and Device Management

- **Microsoft Family Safety / Google Family Link / Apple Screen Time**: Check if "Website filtering" or "Allow only approved apps" is blocking full web capabilities.
- **School/public library computers**: Often have Deep Freeze or minimal browser configurations. Use a personal device instead.
- **Corporate Intune / Jamf managed devices**: The browser may be locked to an old version or have script capabilities disabled beyond extensions. Ask IT for an exception or use an unmanaged browser profile.

## Step-by-Step Fix (General)

1. Open a **private/incognito window** and retry (eliminates extensions).
2. **Update your browser** to the latest stable version and restart.
3. **Cross-check with a different browser**: Chrome ↔ Edge ↔ Firefox ↔ Safari.
4. Turn off **IE Compatibility / Dual-core compatibility mode**.
5. **Disable extensions one by one** (start with ad blockers, privacy tools, and script managers).

## Quick Self-Test

In the developer console, run:

```js
typeof WebAssembly !== "undefined";
```

If it returns `true`, the WASM API is available. If it's still `false`, the problem lies with the browser or system policy, not with Any3D.

## Still Not Working?

1. Record: OS, browser version, whether you're on a VPN/intranet, and whether the device is managed.
2. Submit feedback via the Any3D page's feedback option, including the above information.

## Summary

Missing WebAssembly is most often caused by **outdated browsers, extension interference, VPN/intranet interception, or corporate/parental policy restrictions**. Going through the platform-specific checks should restore functionality in most environments. Any3D cannot fall back when WASM is unavailable — fixing the browser and access environment is the only viable solution.
