# Batch Model Conversion

Upload multiple models or ZIP archives and batch convert them to your target format.

**Category:** 3D Format Conversion Tools (`conversion`)
**Subgroup:** 3D Model Format Conversion (`model-conversion`)

**HTML:** https://any3d.cc/en-US/tools/batch-model-conversion

> Runs entirely in the browser. Files are not uploaded to Any3D servers.

## Overview

Convert multiple 3D models or ZIP archives to a single target format in one batch. Supports GLB, GLTF, OBJ, FBX, STL, 3MF, STEP, PLY, USDZ and more. Auxiliary materials and textures are auto-matched from file references. All conversion runs locally in your browser, so files never leave your device.

## Tips

- Convert up to 20 models in one batch
- Choose one output format for the entire batch
- Supports ZIP archives and auto-detected auxiliary files
- Per-file progress, errors, and download as ZIP

## About Configuration Options

### General Settings

- **Up axis** (Default: Y-up): Determines the 'up' axis of the exported model. Different 3D software uses different conventions. Selecting the wrong system may cause the model to lie on its side.
  - `y-up` — Y-up (Recommended): Convention used by OpenGL, Three.js, and most Web 3D engines. Choose this for models from web or game engines.
  - `z-up` — Z-up: Convention used by Blender (default), 3ds Max, and some CAD software. Try this if the model appears sideways.
- **Rotation X** (Default: 0°; Range: -180° – 180°): Rotate the model around the X axis (degrees). Useful for correcting axis misalignment or print orientation.
- **Rotation Y** (Default: 0°; Range: -180° – 180°): Rotate the model around the Y axis (degrees). Useful for correcting axis misalignment or print orientation.
- **Rotation Z** (Default: 0°; Range: -180° – 180°): Rotate the model around the Z axis (degrees). Useful for correcting axis misalignment or print orientation.
- **Rotation Application** (Default: Root node transform): Choose how rotation is written to the exported model. Baking into vertices rewrites all vertex coordinates so every export format (including geometry-only formats such as STL and STEP) applies it consistently; root node transform keeps the original vertex coordinates, which is friendlier to animated or skinned models, but formats that ignore node transforms (such as STEP) won't apply the rotation.
  - `bake` — Bake into vertices: Rotation is written into all vertex coordinates and applies consistently to every export format; geometry data is rewritten.
  - `node` — Root node transform (Recommended): Rotation is written as a root node transform while vertex coordinates stay unchanged; better for skinned or animated models, but formats that ignore node transforms (such as STEP) won't apply it.

### Batch Settings

- **Output Format** (Default: GLB): Select the target format for all input files in the sidebar, then adjust general and format-specific settings below.
  - `glb` — GLB (Recommended): GL Transmission Format Binary
  - `gltf` — GLTF: GL Transmission Format (JSON + resources)
  - `obj` — OBJ: Wavefront OBJ
  - `stl` — STL: Stereolithography mesh
  - `fbx` — FBX: Autodesk FBX
  - `3mf` — 3MF: 3D Manufacturing Format
  - `step` — STEP: ISO 10303 STEP
  - `stp` — STP: STEP alternate extension
  - `ply` — PLY: Polygon File Format
  - `usdz` — USDZ: Universal Scene Description ZIP

## How to use

### 1. Upload Models or ZIP Archive

Drag and drop multiple 3D models or ZIP archives. MTL, textures, .bin, and other auxiliary files are automatically matched from each model's references.

### 2. Choose Output Format

Pick one target format for the whole batch, then adjust scale, coordinate system, and format-specific options as needed.

### 3. Convert All and Download

Run the batch conversion, review the status of each file, then download results individually or packaged as a ZIP archive.

## FAQ

### How many models can I convert at once?

Up to 20 models per batch. If you add more, only the first 20 are processed and the rest are skipped with a notice.

### Can I upload ZIP archives?

Yes. ZIP files are extracted automatically and each model inside is added as a separate job. You can also mix individual model files and ZIP archives in one batch.

### Can each file be converted to a different format?

No. One output format is selected for the entire batch. This keeps bulk conversion fast and consistent: choose GLB, OBJ, STL, FBX, or any other supported format before converting.

### How are MTL, textures, and other auxiliary files handled?

Upload them together with your models or include them inside a ZIP. The tool reads file references inside each model and matches auxiliary files automatically. Unmatched files are reported as a warning.

### What if some files fail during batch conversion?

Each model is processed independently. Failures are marked in the file list while successful models remain available for download individually or as part of the ZIP package.

### What formats can I convert between?

You can convert to GLB, GLTF, OBJ, FBX, STL, 3MF, STEP, STP, PLY, and USDZ. Upload any supported input format including 3DS, and all models in the batch will be converted to your chosen output format.

### Are textures and materials kept for every file in the batch?

It depends on the format you picked for the batch. GLB and GLTF keep textures and materials; STL keeps geometry only.

### Is Any3D completely free?

Yes, Any3D's core features are free to use forever. We provide format conversion, model optimization, and online preview at no cost, with no registration required.

### Are my files uploaded to your servers?

No. Files you select are processed only in your browser on this device, so they never leave your device and are never sent to our servers. We don't store any user files; after processing, related data in browser memory is released.

### Do I need to install software?

No installation required. Any3D is entirely browser-based; just open the webpage to use all features. It works on Windows, Mac, Linux, and other major operating systems.

### Is there a file size limit?

The processing capacity depends on your device performance and the model's vertex count and texture complexity, rather than file size alone. We impose no file size limit, but when a model exceeds what your device can handle, the page may lag or even crash.
