## Overview

GLB is a common standalone 3D format that packs geometry, colors, animations, and surface details into one file, making it a go-to choice for web displays, AR/VR experiences, and game development. GLB and GLTF files open in any modern browser, where you can inspect model details, play animations and share what you see without installing desktop software or uploading your file anywhere.

## About Configuration Options

### Preview settings

- **Auto-rotate** (Default: Off): Slowly rotate the model around the vertical axis after loading for a full view. Can be toggled anytime in the left panel.
  - `on` — On: Auto-rotate after loading
  - `off` — Off (Recommended): Stay still, rotate manually only (default)

### Animation

- **Clips**: Number of animation clips stored in the file.
- **Bones**: Number of skeleton bones used for rigging and skinning.

## Format Information

### Input format

- **Extension:** glb
- **Full Name:** GL Transmission Format Binary (glTF 2.0)
- **Type:** 3D Model
- **Format:** GLB
- **Tools:** [Three.js](https://threejs.org), [Babylon.js](https://www.babylonjs.com), [Blender](https://www.blender.org)
- **Open With:** [3D Model Viewer](https://any3d.cc/en-US/tools/3dmodel-viewer), [GLB Viewer](https://any3d.cc/en-US/tools/glb-viewer)
- **Description:** GLB is the binary glTF 2.0 format from Khronos Group, packing meshes, materials, textures, and animations into one file. It is the standard for Web 3D and AR/VR, used by Three.js, Babylon.js, model-viewer, and e-commerce previews for self-contained, reliable distribution.

GLB supports PBR materials, skeletal animations, Draco and Meshopt compression, suitable for web, AR, and cross-software use. However, it loses CAD parametric history when tessellated from STEP or native CAD. For 3D printing, use STL or 3MF as slicers cannot import GLB.
- **Supported Features:**
  - Single self-contained binary file
  - PBR material support (base color, metallic, roughness, normal maps)
  - Skeletal animation, skinning, and morph targets
  - Draco mesh compression and KTX2 texture compression
  - Multi-mesh nodes and scene hierarchy
- **Notes:**
  - Some 3D printing slicers cannot directly import GLB files
  - Not suitable for CAD parametric editing

## FAQ

### What is the difference between GLB and GLTF?

GLB is a single file with the model, colors, and animations bundled together, which makes it easy to share. GLTF uses multiple separate files. This viewer can open both formats directly.

### Can I control playback if the model has animations?

Yes. After loading, built-in animations are detected automatically. You can play, pause, drag the progress bar to seek, and switch between multiple animation clips.

### My model appears without colors and surface details. What should I do?

If the GLB already has embedded colors and details, they will be displayed automatically. If your model comes from separate files, make sure the accompanying files are in the same folder as the model, or repackage them into a GLB.

### Can GLB files be used in AR/VR scenes?

Yes. GLB is a common model format for AR/VR and web 3D. You can preview the file in this viewer first, then use the same file in mobile AR or web presentation.

### How do I compress large GLB files?

You can compress textures, simplify meshes, or use mesh compression when exporting the file. This site also offers model compression tools, such as GLB vertex compression, which can reduce file size while keeping the appearance intact.

### Why does my GLB model look blurry when zoomed in?

Blurriness is usually caused by low-resolution textures stored in the file, not by the viewer. If you need sharper details, re-export the model with higher-resolution textures and preview it again.
