STL Decal Tool
Like sticking a real label — add logos, images or text to any STL model. Auto-wraps curves, trims sharp corners and punches holes at openings, exports as independent layers in GLB. Fully browser-local, no upload.

About This Tool
Upload a STL model, click the surface to place image or text decals, then drag along the surface to move, scale and rotate. Unlike full-model AI retexturing or flat image paste, decals naturally hug curved surfaces and auto-trim at sharp edges and corners instead of stretching through and clipping. When a decal crosses mesh holes, openings or unreachable back sides, those regions are auto-punched — no floating or penetrating triangles. On export, each decal is saved as a separate mesh layer in the GLB without modifying your original textures — you can still select, move or delete them individually in Blender and other apps.
Tips
- 1Click to place; drag along the surface to move, including across to another side
- 2Curved and spherical surfaces wrap naturally without flattening
- 3Sharp edges and corners are auto-trimmed — no penetrating to the back side
- 4Auto hole punch at mesh holes, openings or back sides — no floating geometry
- 5Upload images (transparent PNG recommended) and text with custom size and color
- 6Exports as independent mesh layers — does not overwrite or modify original textures
- 7Supports STL input, GLB output; fully browser-local processing
Format Information
Input format
- Extension:
- stl
- Full Name:
- Stereolithography
- Type:
- 3D Mesh
- Format:
- STL (Binary / ASCII)
- Tools:
- Cura、PrusaSlicer、Chitubox、Simplify3D
- Open With:
- Slicer Software、MeshLab、Windows 3D Viewer、STL Viewer Online
- Description:
- STL is the most widely supported 3D printing format, storing triangle mesh only. It works with virtually all slicers and printers, the universal choice.
Notes:
- Does not support colors, textures or materials
- No unit definition — verify scale in your slicer
- ASCII format is 4-6× larger than binary
Supported Features:
- Triangle mesh only — simple and universally compatible
- Binary and ASCII encoding options
- Directly importable into Cura, PrusaSlicer, Chitubox, etc.
Output format
- Extension:
- glb
- Full Name:
- GL Transmission Format Binary (Compressed)
- Type:
- 3D Model
- Format:
- Binary (glTF 2.0) with Draco/Texture Compression
- Tools:
- Three.js、Babylon.js
- Description:
- The compressed GLB output uses Draco geometry compression and/or texture optimization to significantly reduce file size while maintaining visual quality.
Notes:
- Draco-encoded models require a Draco decoder to render
- File size can be reduced by 50-90% depending on settings
Supported Features:
- Draco geometry compression (up to 90% reduction)
- WebP/JPEG texture format conversion
- Mesh simplification with configurable strength
- Original PBR materials and scene hierarchy preserved

Frequently Asked Questions
About this tool
Is this the same as model "reskin / AI texturing"?
No. This tool places logos, images or text locally on the model — it does not replace or repaint the entire material. Great for labeling, signing and product mockups.
How is this different from Text to STL?
Text to STL generates new 3D text geometry from scratch for printing. This tool places logos, images or text onto an existing model's surface and exports GLB — ideal when you already have a model and want to label or brand it.
Can I add a logo to a STL file?
Yes. Upload your STL model, place decals, then export GLB. Use GLB to STL Converter if you need an STL for 3D printing.
Can decals wrap curved surfaces?
Yes. Decals use Shrinkwrap surface wrapping to hug curved and spherical surfaces naturally, like a real sticker.
What happens at sharp corners or edges?
They are auto-trimmed at corners and won't stretch across — like a real sticker can't reach the inside of a 90° corner.
Do decals auto-punch holes?
Yes. When a decal crosses mesh holes, openings or unreachable back sides, those regions are auto-punched and trimmed — no floating or penetrating triangles, with clean natural edges.
Will the pattern spin wildly when dragged to the other side?
No. Orientation stays continuous when moving across faces — logos won't suddenly flip upside down.
Are decals painted into the model's original texture?
No. Each decal is a separate textured mesh, apart from the original material. Original textures are fully preserved — hide or delete individually in Blender and other apps.
Can I add text?
Yes. Switch to the Text tab, enter content and adjust size and color, then click the model surface to place.
Does rotation snap to angles?
Yes. Dragging the ring snaps to 90° increments by default. Hold Shift while dragging to disable snapping and rotate freely.
What input and output formats are supported?
This page accepts STL models. Output is always GLB, open in any standard 3D viewer or editor.
Is my data safe?
Yes. All processing is local in the browser — files are never uploaded to any server.
General questions
Is Any3D completely free?
Yes, Any3D's core features are free to use forever. We provide format conversion, model optimization, and online preview at no cost, with no registration required.
Are my files uploaded to your servers?
No. Files you select are processed only in your browser on this device—they never leave your device and are never sent to our servers. We don't store any user files; after processing, related data in browser memory is released.
Do I need to install software?
No installation required. Any3D is entirely browser-based—just open the webpage to use all features. It works on Windows, Mac, Linux, and other major operating systems.
Is there a file size limit?
The processing capacity depends on your device performance and the model's vertex count and texture complexity, rather than file size alone. We impose no file size limit, but when a model exceeds what your device can handle, the page may lag or even crash.
