About This Tool

This tool aligns the lowest point of your 3D model exactly to the ground plane (Y=0), quickly fixing floating or hovering models. It prepares parts for 3D printing, scene placement, or importing into other software. No installation is needed: all processing happens locally in your browser, and files are never uploaded.

Tips

  • 1Supports common 3D formats such as STL, OBJ, GLB, and PLY.
  • 2Only translates the model, so shape and dimensions stay exactly the same.
  • 3All processing is local, so your files never leave your device.

Transform Application

DefaultModify root node

Choose how the transform is applied to the model: by modifying vertices (baked into geometry data) or by modifying the root node transform. Modifying vertices rewrites all vertex coordinates and applies consistently to every export format; modifying the root node keeps the original vertex coordinates, which is friendlier to animated, skinned, or geometry-sensitive workflows. Root node transform is the recommended default.

Modify vertices

The transform is written into all vertex coordinates, rewriting geometry data; applies consistently to every export format.

Modify root nodeRecommended

The transform is written to the root node (position/scale/rotation) while vertex coordinates stay unchanged; friendlier to animated or skinned models, but formats that ignore node transforms (such as STEP) won't apply it. Recommended default.

Drop to Ground

Drop to ground

Translate the model so its lowest point sits on Y=0 (Three.js Y-up).

About this tool

Q

Will the model deform after I drop it to the ground?

A

No. The tool only translates the whole model until the lowest point touches the ground. Geometry, dimensions, and materials all stay unchanged.

Q

Can I align a model that has multiple parts?

A

Yes. The tool treats the entire model as one object and moves all parts together, so their relative positions are kept exactly the same.

Q

Which axis is used as the ground after alignment?

A

By default it aligns to the Y=0 plane, which is the standard ground reference in 3D printing and most 3D software.

Q

My model is already lying flat. Do I still need to run this tool?

A

If the bottom already touches the ground, you do not need to process it. But if the model floats or has any part hovering, this tool can zero it quickly and ensure a flat bottom for printing.

Q

What if my model is upside down or tilted?

A

The tool aligns whatever is currently the lowest point to the ground. If the model is inverted or tilted, the wrong side will hit the ground. Rotate the model into the intended orientation first, then apply drop to ground.

Q

A small detail hangs below the main body. How is the ground level decided?

A

The lowest point of the entire model sets the contact level. A small detail or stray geometry below the main body will determine the bottom, so the main body may sit higher than expected. Check the preview after applying.

General questions

Q

Is Any3D completely free?

A

Yes, Any3D's core features are free to use forever. We provide format conversion, model optimization, and online preview at no cost, with no registration required.

Q

Are my files uploaded to your servers?

A

No. Files you select are processed only in your browser on this device, so they never leave your device and are never sent to our servers. We don't store any user files; after processing, related data in browser memory is released.

Q

Do I need to install software?

A

No installation required. Any3D is entirely browser-based; just open the webpage to use all features. It works on Windows, Mac, Linux, and other major operating systems.

Q

Is there a file size limit?

A

The processing capacity depends on your device performance and the model's vertex count and texture complexity, rather than file size alone. We impose no file size limit, but when a model exceeds what your device can handle, the page may lag or even crash.
