Fix Normals

Detect broken normals, recalculate from face winding or flip inside-out. Single-sided preview shows black faces clearly.

About This Tool

These tools bake transforms directly into mesh vertices — unlike preview rotation, changes are preserved on export. Upload a model, apply the transform, verify in the 3D preview, then download.

Tips

  • 1Transforms are baked into vertices and reflected in exported files
  • 2Reset Pivot moves the bounding-box center to the origin
  • 3Drop to Ground aligns the lowest point to Y=0 (Three.js Y-up)
  • 4Mirror flips geometry along X, Y or Z and fixes face winding
  • 5Export supports STL, OBJ, GLB, 3MF and PLY

About Configuration Options

Fix Normals

Recalculate normals

Recompute vertex normals from face winding. Fixes missing, zero-length, or inverted normals that cause black faces under single-sided lighting. For STL, winding is already the export authority — use Flip if the solid is inside-out.

Flip normals

Invert vertex normals and reverse face winding (inside-out flip). Required for STL black faces caused by reversed winding.

Frequently Asked Questions

About this tool

Q

Are transforms baked into the exported file?

A

Yes. All operations modify vertex coordinates directly. Preview rotation is for inspection only; exported geometry includes your applied transforms.

Q

Does mirror affect textures?

A

Mirror changes mesh geometry only. Textured models may need UV adjustments in external software after mirroring.

Q

What export formats are supported?

A

STL, OBJ, GLB, 3MF and PLY. Choose the format in the sidebar before downloading.

General questions

Q

Is Any3D completely free?

A

Yes, Any3D's core features are free to use forever. We provide format conversion, model optimization, and online preview at no cost, with no registration required.

Q

Are my files uploaded to your servers?

A

No. Files you select are processed only in your browser on this device—they never leave your device and are never sent to our servers. We don't store any user files; after processing, related data in browser memory is released.

Q

Do I need to install software?

A

No installation required. Any3D is entirely browser-based—just open the webpage to use all features. It works on Windows, Mac, Linux, and other major operating systems.

Q

Is there a file size limit?

A

The processing capacity depends on your device performance and the model's vertex count and texture complexity, rather than file size alone. We impose no file size limit, but when a model exceeds what your device can handle, the page may lag or even crash.
