What is Any3D and how does it work?

A

Any3D is a suite of web-based 3D model tools for format conversion, model optimization, online preview, analysis, and editing. Unlike traditional cloud converters, Any3D runs entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly and WebGL, processing files on your local CPU and GPU without remote server delays.

Yes, Any3D's core tools are 100% free to use. There are no subscriptions, paywalls, or hidden fees for core conversions, optimizations, and previews. You can use our tools directly without entering credit card details or purchasing tokens.

Do I need to create an account or sign in?

A

No account is required for any tool processing. You can open any tool and process files immediately. Signing in is completely optional and is only used if you want to sync your favorite tools and custom preferences across devices.

Any3D works seamlessly on any modern desktop or mobile operating system, including Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, iOS, and Android. We recommend using a modern WebGL2-compatible browser such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, or Apple Safari for optimal performance.

Are my 3D models or files uploaded to your servers?

A

No. When you select or drop a 3D file, it is loaded directly into your local browser memory and processed by WebAssembly modules on your computer. Files never leave your device and are never transmitted to or stored on our servers. When you close or refresh the page, the memory is cleared.

Is Any3D safe for confidential or commercial CAD and 3D assets?

A

Yes, Any3D is ideal for proprietary, enterprise, or NDA-protected 3D models. Because data processing happens entirely client-side on your local hardware, there is zero risk of server-side data breaches, third-party snooping, or unauthorized cloud storage of your intellectual property. Do you collect user analytics or telemetry on model contents?

A

We do not inspect, log, or collect any model geometry, textures, or file contents. We only collect standard anonymized page-level analytics (such as page views and general error logs) to improve platform stability.

Are materials, textures, and colors preserved during conversion?

A

Yes, whenever the source and target formats support material definitions (such as PBR materials in GLB/glTF or OBJ with MTL). For multi-file formats containing separate texture images, you can drag the entire folder or zip into the tool, or use our File Packer to bundle them into a single self-contained GLB/3MF file.

Can I convert or compress multiple 3D files in batches?

Is there a file size or polygon limit?

A

Any3D imposes no artificial file size limit or polygon cap. The maximum model complexity you can handle depends directly on your device's available memory and GPU memory. Most modern laptops and desktops can comfortably handle models with millions of triangles and hundreds of megabytes in size.

What should I do if a large model causes the browser to lag or crash?

A

If a very large model (e.g. >500MB or >10 million polygons) exhausts your browser's memory tab allocation, try closing other heavy browser tabs, reducing high-resolution textures first via Texture Image Compression, or using Model Vertex Compression before further processing.

How can I reduce the file size of a 3D model for web and mobile use?

A

You can dramatically reduce file size by: 1) applying mesh simplification with vertex compression, 2) compressing textures to WebP/KTX2 using our compression tools, and 3) exporting to optimized binary formats like GLB with Draco or Meshopt compression.

Which 3D formats are best for 3D printing?

A

STL and 3MF are the most widely used formats for 3D printing slicers (such as Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, PrusaSlicer, and Ultimaker Cura). 3MF is especially recommended because it supports multi-color data, precise units, and watertight mesh definitions. Why does my 3D model appear black, inverted, or invisible after loading?

A

This usually happens due to inverted polygon normals, extreme scale units (e.g., millimeter units loaded into meter coordinates), or missing ambient lighting. You can quickly fix inverted faces with our Fix Normals tool, adjust position with Reset Pivot, or resize with Model Scale.

Why did my conversion fail or produce an empty file?

A

Conversion failures are usually caused by non-standard or corrupt source files, missing linked texture/MTL references, or unsupported sub-spec features (such as proprietary binary blocks). Try re-exporting the model from your source 3D software with standard glTF, OBJ, or FBX settings, or contact our support team.
