About This Tool

Place image or text decals on GLB surfaces for product mockups, Web viewers, and AR assets. Decals hug curved surfaces, auto-trim at sharp edges, and punch holes at openings so nothing floats or cuts through. Each decal exports as its own mesh layer with embedded texture, so the source materials stay intact and remain editable in Blender or other tools. Input and output are both GLB.

Place & edit

Place

After preparing a decal, click the model surface to place it. Drag empty space to orbit the view.

Move

Select a decal and drag the center handle. It slides along the surface and can wrap to the other side.

Scale

Default0.18

Range0.05 – 0.6 · step 0.01

Drag the scale handles after selecting a decal. Size is relative to the model bounding-sphere radius, with a default initial value and editable range.

Rotate

Drag the ring handle to spin around the surface normal. Snaps to 90° by default; hold Shift for free rotation.

Export

Independent layers

Each decal exports as a separate mesh layer without modifying original textures. Select, hide, or delete them individually in Blender and similar apps.

Description:
GLB is the binary glTF 2.0 format from Khronos Group, packing meshes, materials, textures, and animations into one file. It is the standard for Web 3D and AR/VR, used by Three.js, Babylon.js, model-viewer, and e-commerce previews for self-contained, reliable distribution. GLB supports PBR materials, skeletal animations, Draco and Meshopt compression, suitable for web, AR, and cross-software use. However, it loses CAD parametric history when tessellated from STEP or native CAD. For 3D printing, use STL or 3MF as slicers cannot import GLB.

Notes:

  • Some 3D printing slicers cannot directly import GLB files
  • Not suitable for CAD parametric editing

Does export stay GLB?

A

Yes. This page is GLB-in, GLB-out. Decals are added as separate layers: no forced format conversion.

Q

Will it damage original materials?

A

No. Decals are extra meshes with their own textures. Source materials and UVs are left unchanged.

Can decals wrap curved surfaces?

A

Yes. Surface projection hugs curved and spherical areas like a real sticker instead of flat-pasting.

Q

What happens at sharp corners or openings?

A

Sharp edges are auto-trimmed so the decal does not stretch through the mesh. Openings and unreachable back sides are punched out: no floating triangles.

What image formats work for decals?

A

PNG, JPG, and WebP. Transparent PNG is recommended for logos and stickers without a solid background.

Q

Can I edit decals later in Blender?

A

Yes. Each decal is a separate object/layer in the exported GLB, so you can select, move, or delete it without redoing the whole model.
