IFC
Extensions: ifc1 tools
IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) is an open international standard (ISO 16739) for BIM. It uses a data model to describe building components' geometry, properties, relationships, and lifecycle, enabling data exchange and collaboration across BIM software.
IFC records engineering semantics (walls, beams, columns, relationships) rather than rendering. Browsers and game engines cannot render IFC directly; conversion to a mesh format simplifies semantics to pure geometry. The original IFC must remain in the BIM toolchain.
