The solid volume comes from the mesh geometry, then material weight is calculated by multiplying that volume by density and infill. Real slicer results vary with wall count, top and bottom layers, and travel moves, so treat the number as a planning estimate.
If the file embeds a unit, such as a 3MF file, the tool converts using that unit. Otherwise it assumes 1 model unit equals 1 mm, which matches most STL files made for printing.
Yes. Enabling supports adds about 20% extra material as a rough allowance. The exact support volume will depend on your slicer settings, such as supports overhangs and support interface density.
The volume comes from the mesh geometry: the tool computes the enclosed volume from the model's triangles directly in your browser. It is accurate for closed, watertight meshes; open or self-intersecting models only produce an estimate.
Print time is a heuristic: the effective material volume, after infill, shell and supports, is divided by an extrusion rate that depends on layer height. Thinner layers or higher infill increase the estimate. Travel moves, accelerations and printer-specific speeds are not modeled, so confirm the final number in your slicer.
The calculator analyzes one model at a time. For a batch, multiply the material cost by the number of copies and apply fixed costs such as power or labor only once per print job. Print time does not scale exactly linearly, since slicers place all copies into a single build plate.
