About This Tool

VOX is the native format of the MagicaVoxel voxel editor, used to create pixel-style 3D models for game assets and concept design. This viewer opens VOX files directly and renders the model as colored cubes in 3D space. You can rotate and zoom freely from any angle, making it easy to inspect every voxel detail without the original editor.

Tips

  • 1Supports standard VOX files
  • 2Rotate and zoom freely to inspect voxel detail
  • 3Files are processed locally, never uploaded

Extension:
vox
Full Name:
MagicaVoxel VOX
Type:
3D Model
Format:
VOX
Description:
VOX is the native voxel format of MagicaVoxel software, storing colored voxel data in a grid structure. It supports color, transparency, and multi-level hierarchy, and is widely used in pixel art, indie games, and creative visualization. Voxel models are built from stacked small cubes, making them naturally suited for pixel-style aesthetics. When converted to a continuous mesh, the surface exhibits obvious blocky features, requiring smoothing to achieve a rounded appearance. The best way to edit voxels remains within MagicaVoxel.

Notes:

  • The VOX format is widely supported in 3D software and engines

Supported Features:

  • Real-time WebGL rendering
  • Orbit controls with rotate/pan/zoom
  • Wireframe and shaded display modes
  • Animation playback (if supported by format)

How to Use

1

Upload Model

Drag your VOX file onto the page, or click to select a file. If you have associated textures, package them into a ZIP and upload together.

2

View Model

Drag with the mouse to rotate the model, scroll to zoom, and inspect the appearance, colors, and animations from any angle.

3

Done

Your files are processed only in your browser. No data remains after you close the page.

Frequently Asked Questions

View all FAQs
Q

How do I export a VOX file from MagicaVoxel?

A

In MagicaVoxel, after finishing your model, click the 'Export' button and choose the VOX format. This viewer can then open the file directly for viewing.

Q

Why does the model look like small blocks?

A

Because VOX files store voxel data, where each voxel is a colored cube. That blocky look is the essence of voxel art, and the viewer faithfully renders these small cubes to present the original pixel-art style.

Q

Will the model colors be lost?

A

No. VOX files record the exact color of each voxel, and the viewer displays these colors faithfully, exactly as they appear in MagicaVoxel.

Q

Can I rotate and zoom to inspect the model?

A

Yes. You can drag your mouse to rotate the model and use the scroll wheel to zoom. This allows you to inspect every voxel detail from any angle, making it easy to check the shape and colors from all sides.

Q

Can I use a VOX model for 3D printing?

A

Yes. Export the model from MagicaVoxel to a mesh format like OBJ, or use this site's VOX to GLB converter to turn the voxel grid into printable geometry. Voxel printing preserves the blocky pixel-art style.

Q

Can I view a VOX model that uses a custom color palette?

A

Yes. VOX files store a palette of up to 256 colors, and the viewer reads this palette from the file, so custom palettes are displayed correctly.
